AutomateSocials is now a Grok Bot: run your social calendar from inside Grok

AutomateSocials started from a simple frustration: switching between projects and tools, no proper post calendar, and the same daily steps repeated by hand. The goal was to manage all of it in one place.

For a lot of founders, that one place is now an AI chat. So today there is a new way in: AutomateSocials by Gregor, a bot on Grok Bot. Its listing describes it plainly: it "schedules and automates approved posts across X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. For founders and teams who want a steady social cadence without the busywork."

This post explains what is actually happening under the hood, how to set it up step by step, and what it costs.

What the bot really is: the same agent, reached over MCP

The bot is not a second product. It talks to the same AutomateSocials agent you would use in the web app, through our hosted MCP server at https://automatesocials.net/mcp, with your project's key in an x-api-key header. One key is one project.

If you have not met MCP (Model Context Protocol) yet, here is the short version, because it is worth understanding. MCP is a standard way for an AI assistant to call tools that live somewhere else. Instead of copying text out of a chat and pasting it into a scheduler, the assistant calls the tool directly: "list my connected accounts", "save this as a draft", "schedule this for Tuesday". The tool does the work and reports back what happened.

The useful part is that the web app, the MCP server and our REST API share one set of tools. A post saved as a draft from Grok is the same post you see in the app's calendar. That shared plumbing is the part of AutomateSocials we are proudest of. It is invisible when it works, and it is the reason the same agent can show up in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Grok, and now as a Grok Bot.

Credit where it is due: Gregor packaged this bot on top of that infrastructure, which is exactly the kind of thing MCP is for. Someone builds the plumbing; someone else builds a better front door on it.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1.Add the bot. Open AutomateSocials by Gregor and click "Add to Grok Bot". It is a third-party bot, so read the terms shown on that page before you accept.
  2. 2.Create a project and connect your accounts. In AutomateSocials, one project is one brand or client, with its own accounts, voice and calendar. Connect the networks you post to. This takes a few minutes, and the agent can pick up your basics from your website.
  3. 3.Give the bot your project key. In AutomateSocials: Settings → API & MCP → Create a key. Copy only the sk_live_… key. Ask Grok Bot: "Add AutomateSocials MCP", and give it the key through its secure secret field. Do not paste sk_live_ keys into the normal chat. The agent adds a remote MCP server with the URL https://automatesocials.net/mcp and the header x-api-key: sk_live_…. One key is one project: if you run several brands or clients, add a separate connector for each, with its own name and key, so posts never cross between them.
  4. 4.Brief it in plain words. Tell it what you want to say this week. It writes a version per network, can add a picture, and saves drafts.
  5. 5.Approve, then publish. You read the drafts and decide what goes out. AutomateSocials itself does not ask before publishing or spending over MCP; instead, the server's instructions, sent at the start of every session, tell the bot exactly that, so it should ask you, and which tools cost credits and how to quote them first.
  6. 6.Check results. Ask for status, links and engagement per network.

A safe first request after setup: "List my connected social accounts." If that works, everything else will.

On TikTok, you still choose privacy, interactions and the commercial-content disclosure on TikTok's own posting screen.

Who it is for

It is for anyone who works on socials, but it fits best for founders and small teams who already spend their day in an AI chat and do not want one more dashboard.

It also works if you already have a strategy and a content agent of your own. You can connect us just to publish: your agent writes, AutomateSocials handles the accounts, the calendar and the publishing.

One honest note on content. AI can draft, but the posts that work usually teach something real. Put something of yourself into each post, or build on what other people in your space have said. The bot will help you write faster; it cannot have your opinions for you.

What it costs: credits, not a subscription

Most tools want a monthly subscription. We chose credits you pay for as you use them.

  • •Writing, scheduling and publishing are free.
  • •Publishing to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok is free.
  • •An X post costs 1 credit, or 8 when it contains a link (that is X's own per-post fee).
  • •A picture costs 1, 3 or 6 credits depending on the model. A short video with sound starts at 1 credit.
  • •You get 50 free credits on signup, no card, and credits never expire.

After that, packs run from 50 credits for $4.99 to 1000 credits for $49.99. Full details are on the credits page.

Fifty credits is enough for a test post or two, so you can see the whole flow work before you spend anything.

On the AutomateSocials side, talking to the agent and MCP calls are free; you pay only credits for the paid actions above. The bot itself is free to add; the only thing you pay for is AutomateSocials credits.

Try it

  1. 1.Sign up for AutomateSocials with an email and a password. You get 50 credits and your first project, no card.
  2. 2.Add AutomateSocials by Gregor to Grok Bot.
  3. 3.Connect one account, approve one test post, and watch it go out.
